Ok the obligatory Oscars post everyone will be doing
Boy the OSCARS have been snooze ville!!
The whole room just oozes lack of excitement so far.
I have to say though I do like the liberal in your face political commentary seems to be down this year. I think that is because their guy is in. Though I was a tad shocked we not see a PASS THE HEALTH CARE BILL speech. Maybe Hollywood hates it too?
The Co -Host thing- YACK. Not really funny or very good. I actually think Steve Martin would be good by himself but its seems Baldwin confines him.
There seems to be on the whole an lack of glamour and oohs and awes that used to the Oscar. This is like watching a Chamber of Commerce banquet.
The stage seems too dark. Heck the audience looks bored.
There seemed to be a lot of missteps. Like the Tribute to Horror films that included films that were not really horror. Is Jaws horror? Is Silence of the Lambs Horror? I know for a fact Edward Scissors Hands is not horror. Then after saying we are paying tribute to an art that gets dissed they don't follow up by giving some achievement award to someone in that gene re.
Don't get me started on the musical number they did.
WOW I sound negative. However I really liked the tribute they did to John Hughes who directed so many of those films of my youth.
The Best Actor category was nice and Jeff Bridges gave one of the few speeches I found interesting. I always liked him.
Maybe things we get better since we are rounding third here. Final update after the whole show is over.
Update
Well Sandra Bullock won Best actress for the Blind Side . That is nice and liked her speech. Though next year they need to throw this idea of this panel of folks gushing about the nominees for best actor and actress out the window.
I thought that Avator and The Hurt Locker would have split Best Director and Best Picture. So I was tad shocked that The Hurt Locker got both.
Anyway I think I have penned down what I did not like about tonight. The background orchestra. Too subdued which sort of made it drag.
