Republican Cao Drops Controversial Fundraising Firm (Good Move)

I think this is a good move. The Picyaune has Cao drops fundraising company. I am not going to get into the conservative back and forth blog discussion if this firm is good or bad. In my experience some of these direct mail folks are legit and others are horrid . As to this com any I have no real knowledge.

However I think this is a good move for Cao. I always thought this was a weird fit for Cao as the Picayune points out .

It should seem that CAO has both advantages and disadvantages here. He is viewed as conservative on some things and not "conservative" on others. So he manages to make people of all camps mad I suppose. Though I think many conservatives give Cao a pass because of the reality of his district.

There are advantages. I mean look at Stupak that has made his position on the Health Care Bill a net plus. He has conservatives praising him and he has progressive pro-life Catholics praising him.

Cao should seem to be a perfect fit in many way for the Robert George led American Principles Project. We see at the top of their page "APIA supports Rep. Bart Stupak in the House and opposes Dawn Johnsen in the Senate!" Well great. But it would be nice for Cao to get some love there too.

CAO should be in a similar position but on more issues. It would seem the pro-life community would be in FULL fundraising mode for Cao and would be sending mailing lists galore. If not they are fulls. He is supportive of immigration reform and thus it would seem that there opportunities there to hit that community. Also what about the important Vietnamese community nationwide!!! I mean he is their boy right now and represents a important break through. Surely Cao can milk important Vietnamese communities nationwide including those in California that have GOP inclinations. It seems that as to the American Catholic Social Justice community he is a net plus and surely they would be helping out.

I am not sure this particular firm could meet all those diverse demands.

This race is winnable for CAO . That should be made known more. I think that the more Uptown Liberal New Orleans Mitt Landrieu voters can live with him and the GOP New Orleans voters know he is the best they will ever get in that district. The key will be the black community and if he has smart out reach people he has a chance of getting enough black vote to win.
