LSU Baseball Barely Survives Pepperdine in Game 2 (LSU 3 Malibu Guys 2) ( Links )

LSU's Joey Bourgeois has impressive night

Wow what a game last night. I was screaming at the radio as my "local" radio station kept going in and out so plan B- struggling to hear on WWL out of New Orleans and their super station at the end of the game.

The pitcher Pepperdine threw at LSU last night , Matt Bywater , was sa good as advertised. Thankfully LSU's Bourgeois was excellent last night too. It all looked like it was falling apart when Ott hit a guy in the 9th and near gave up a two run home run. Thankfully we kept them at bay. End score LSU 3 Pepperdine 2.

First the media

The Baton Rouge Advocate has two good and interesting articles here at LSU holds on to nip Pepperdine and Patient approach pays off early

Carl Dubois has an excllent must read inning by inning recap at GAME BLOG: LSU 3, Pepperdine 2 (final). He has some good interviews too at that link. They are:

Audio
CLICK HERE to listen to Gibbs discuss his offensive contributions, the LSU pitching and the job by Bywater.
CLICK HERE to hear Grewe talk about the home run Ott allowed, the performance by Bourgeois and a few finer points about the Tigers pitching staff.
CLICK HERE to hear Bourgeois (and his thick accent) in discussing the game and why he pitched so much better than in his previous start.

LSU Sports net has their article up at Bourgeois, Tigers Top Pepperdine, 3-2. At the time of this posting I am not seeing a Photo Gallery linked at the article but I expect that will added later.

LSU ends this tournament today by playing Brown at 12:00 noon. That should be available on all the LSU radio affiliates today. Brown after making a stunning comeback against Pepperdine in their first game just got pummeled yesterday by them in their second meeting.-
