Civil War Memory has a nice review of a recent book that looks at the famed Louisiana Tigers and their action at Gettysburg
American Catholic has today a nice post on the famed The Irish Brigade at Fredericksburg of New York that served at Gettysburg.
What do these outfits have in common. Well a lot more than you might think. This story started a new chapter in the early years of the Iraq conflict.
For more on that see these two excellent articles Dying Together: From Bull Run to Baghdad and a another related good article here at 'The Fighting 69th' Makes History, Yet Again
Thanks for the link to the article on my recent book on the Louisiana Tigers in the Gettysburg Campaign. Many of the Tigers were Catholics, and during the invasion of Pennsylvania they were accompanies by their priest, Father James Sheeran.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I am looking forward to reading it. I like American History and Civil war hisotry. THe Catholic apsect of it on both sides is of great interest to me also.
ReplyDeleteI will have to do a post on James Sheeran
