Former Roman Catholic Becomes An Episcopal Bishop in L.A.

Perhaps this could be a marketing slogan. You, too, can be a bishop! Join the Episcopal Church! It does seem former Catholic do well in that department.

I am watching the Diocese of L.A withsome interest today. As to the New Bishop see L.A.'s Episcopal Diocese elects its first woman bishop

One thing at least in the early years of females priest in the Anglican Church was they really did not mess around with the liturgy. Their radical counterparts in the Catholic Church(usually nuns) wanted to tear the liturgy down and replace it with various silly stuff. I thought where at least that is something.

However over the years that virus that was in the Catholic Church seems sadly to be invading the Anglican communion. I note this new Bishop is "currently a doctoral student at the Seabury Western Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois, with an emphasis on alternative liturgies and their effect on church growth.” Oh boy!!!! Been there done that my Anglican friends. You thought the controversy over the "new" prayer book was something just wait.

However the real thing to watch is if Diocese of L.A will elect a Lesbian Priest in a same sex Union to another Bishop position. I am looking at the ballots it looks like she might get it.

No matter what you feel about the issue of openly Gay Partnered Bishops this will have a effect. If confirmed by the national Episcopal Church(which is likely) it might be the straw that broke the camels back as it were. It was one thing to have this in New Hampshire. But to do so in one of the most important and Wealthy Anglican Diocese in the United States sends a huge message. A message right in the face of the Archbishop of Canterbury that is trying to hold the Communion together.

For better or worse this could be a historic day that many will look back on.
