Catholic Bishops Need to Stop Hanging out With Anti Papacy Protestants

So says the Catholic voice of the Washington Post that has another splendid column that goes in various directions (that is things that get on his nerves).

Stevens-Arroyo has Cheating the gospel and the Church

The Manhattan Declaration denounces President Obama for associating with supporters of abortion. However, it is apparently permissible for Catholic archbishops and bishops to associate with persons who reject the gospel legitimacy of the papacy and Mary's Immaculate Conception. While two wars are being waged, with unemployment in double digits, the financial system of the world in suspense, these religious leaders declare that abortion, stem-cell use and same sex marriage override any other Gospel value. (You won't find Jesus saying anything about abortion or stem cells in the Gospel, but the Savior said a great deal about the homeless, the sick, and the hungry.) It's cheating to speak pious platitudes about Christianity and ignore Jesus' words.

Hmm how come I have a feeling he has no problem with Bishops hanging out with Liberal Christians that don't believe in all this Papacy and Mary stuff.

As the good Op-Ed writer instructs on the Bishops on proper Catholic conduct we see him use the very Protestant argument of BY SCRIPTURE ALONE!! IRONY!!!

I hate to inform him but Jesus did not speak out explicitly (at least as we see in Scripture) on immigration, the Nuclear Bomb, the right to a good public education, the right to organize into Unions, State Execution (except to perhaps say that Pilate was acting under legitimate authority) , the minimum wage, just war theory, tax credits, school vouchers, the dispute between Turkey and Greece, if the UN is a good or bad thing, etc etc.

Does he want the Church to stop talking on all of this?

That last paragraph of yours was spot on. It seems Obama and his ilk are thrilled when the Catholics support them on an issue, but heaven forbid should they actually speak out on their dogma or tenets that the liberal Dems don't agree on.

I just wrote a post on Jimmy Carter and his skewed view as to what Catholics teach. The guy is a total moron. I have to wonder if he fell off the roof of one of his Habit houses and experienced a bit of brain damage.
