We Dodged A Bullet On John Edwards (Great Read)

I really wonder when Edwards was on the ticket as VP if the media knew how creepy this whole clan was.

Crunchy Con has a link to a must read Politico expose at Andrew Young's fatal attraction. Oh and my gosh there could be a Sex Tape still.

  1. Well, I can tell you this...I think of myself as pretty politically savvy and I didn't see the Edwards affair coming at all!

In fact, in the beginning of the Primary, I was supporting Edwards and it wasn't until the debates that I switched my vote to Hillary. She seemed a millions times smarter than any of the others up on stage, especially Obama (who I knew as lying through his teeth--he was my Senator).

I really became upset with Edwards when he threw his support to Obama but now I'm pretty sure that Obama had the goods on him and threatened him to throw his support his way or he would let it out of the bag. Obama plays dirty....very very dirty.

I'm glad Edwards has no chance at a political career, he's despicable. Why his wife is sticking with him is beyond me.

(Oh..and a sidenote: My daughter interviewed Elizabeth Edwards during the campaign, (she's a reporter for a newspaper in NH), and she said it was obvious that she was under a lot of strain, very testy and angry--and my daughter was not giving her reason to be angry, it was a very good interview. I have to wonder if at the time if she felt the pressure of this news getting out.

My daughter also said that Hillary and Mitt Romney were the nicest and most respectful to the staff on the newspaper and Obama wouldn't give them the time of day.

  2. That is some great insight.

I thought the pick of Edwards by Kerry was a tad weird at the time. One reason he so wanted the VP pick was it was evident he was going to lose reelction

In some ways I thought he did not have that common touch like Clinotn. Yet I have to admit a lot of people really liked him and stuck with him.

It would be interesting to imagine what the Decrat race had been like if he was not in it

I am so jealous of your daughter. I always have imagined NH would be fun place to live for a poltical junkie. THese people have furutre President in their living rooms. Just normal people.

  3. JH- Other than the Presidential election year, NH is pretty quiet. It was fun for her during that time, however. She was able to do a one on one interview with Huckabee (she was complimented by a major news agency for the tough questions she had ready for him and how she delivered the interview--fair and respectful). She also had her picture taken with Hillary and Mitt Romney. She said Hillary was very warm and friendly and is the only candidate that asked specifically to come up to the reporters office and meet them.

It was great for her to be able to have all that stuff in her portfolio...especially since it was her first job as a reporter right out of Journalism school (Mizzou). She has a double major, Journalism/Political Science.

Too bad the newspaper industry is going south...she's looking for a job in public relations because she can barely hang on with the low pay, not to mention, she's not sure how much longer before the paper folds.
