I was looking for the full English translation of the Vatican Newspaper's response to the Obama Nobel peace prize. Father Z has it at L’OssRom: smelling and spilling the coffee .
They think it is silly basically. But I want to touch on what they say that shows a much bigger problem
Moreover, on the basis of the decisions he has made so far, it would be difficult to describe the President as an outright pacifist. His provisions regarding American military involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan seem to fall between fidelity to the pacifist principles proclaimed during his electoral campaign and a more realistic policy, which some have even defined as a continuation of the "warmongering" Bush.
What? What the Hell? It is true that Obama was opponent of our military policy in Iraq. But where in the heck are they getting these "pacifist principles" regarding Afghanistan that were proclaimed in his campaign. I can only recall the very opposite!!!
Where in heavens did they get this. Off some European News wire that basically was out to lunch. If the Vatican Newspaper wants to be a legitimate news source and talk about world wide news it better get an American reporter that actually talks facts. No wonder the Vatican talking heads think Obama is something is he is not. It appears their newspaper can't even access google to see his statements.
On top of the fact that we have a Liberation Theologist as Amb. to the Holy See....
