This is great news. AM I wrong or is this not a substantial uptick? We need and should and could have more but this is encouraging. See St Landry's Church blog's post Year for Priests for details. This needs to be talked about.
Sadly it is not highlighted on the "we are in serious need of upgrading " Diocese of Lafayette Web site.
I want to post this comment the the above linked blogger made. This is good news!!
He says
It's definitely great news. The seminarians are coming from across the diocese. Their ages and backgrounds vary with some entering seminary straight out of high school, some after college, and some after other careers.
And I know at least one seminarian is a young grandfather.Father Aaron Melancon, Director of Vocations and Seminarians, is very energetic and he's willing to ask. When he meets you, he'll introduce himself and you'll have to answer relatively quickly if you've considered the seminary or diaconate. On the diocese website ... you're right that it needs a lot of work.
I see that they've added the new Bishop's Services Appeal video, a YouTube video, to the front page which is a step forward. There is a lot of good news that the website ... and a blog ... could get out there. One thing I've seen is that those diocese with lots of vocations also have a lot of web activity.Brick by brick, maybe we're pointed in the right direction.
We need to be talking about the success stories more. What has Lafayette done to make progress on the vocation issue. Other Diocese including mine would benefit. We need to get this out and then ask questions!!!

Great cooment. Hey do you know of any other Catholic blogs in your Dioceses
I am going to update with the comment
No others that I know of.
Our website/blog/Twitter/Facebook move in the last few months is an experiment. As far as I know, we're the only parish doing it. I do know that some folks in the diocese main office have seen it and it has generated some discussion.
Hopefully, we'll see some fruit both with the diocesan website and more seminarians.
Your style is really unique compared to other people
I've read stuff from. I appreciate you for posting when you have the opportunity, Guess I will just book mark this page.
