The Conservative Case Against Federal Tort Reform

Southern Appeal has a good piece on this at The Conservative Case Against Tort Reform

I actually agree with a lot of this. Also I think so called Tort Reform will offer little savings. In Louisiana and other places that have enacted very insurance defense bar laws where have been the savings?

I can recall years ago Governor Mike Foster with the power of the Louisiana Business lobby enacted all sort of tort reform. Where is all the new business that was promised? Louisiana has I think rather severe limitations on Medical malpractice and has so for years. Where is our medical savings?

I think it is a largely symbolic item that will hurt more people than it helps. I don't think there will be any major reduction in medical cost to the consumer. But just talk about nasty trial lawyers and the folks get behind it. Till they are of course effected in a severe way.
