Goodness does anyone recall the protesters at the 2008 GOP convention. There was convictions over a pipe bomb plot for goodness sake.

Louisiana readers of a certain age might recall the bomb going off in the Louisiana State Capital when the Right to work laws debate was so heated.

One could on and on.

I think both sides get way over dramatic on this theme. The political climate is no where as volatile as it was in the the early part of the 20th century where there were real threats of violence and you had the American people rooting on Bank Robbers as they stuck it to the bankers and the "man".
