Well Today is the day!!! Pope Benedict XVI's third encyclical, Caritas in Veritate, will be released. I have Even changed the HEADER picture on the blog for the occasion.
It is now 8:03 am in Rome which means in a hour the text will be released to the media and then the text and the embargo on stories on it will be just three hours later at 12.pm. Though I suspect several influential media and even bloggers have copies now. This thread will be updated through out the day!! As always beware of secular reporting that of course will be horrible and no doubt take things out of context. I Shall POST A LINK TO THE TEXT AT THE TOP of this post when I hopefully wake up in a few hours.
Sources to hit first
Whispers in the Loggia the Vatican Watcher and Insider a must to watch and might even post it "early". Look for stories there all day.
I would be watching the First Things Blogs and this entry Caritas in Veritate Roundup very closely
American Papist will be a must too
Benedetto XVI Forum and in the English section the 'CARITAS IN VERITATE' thread will be big as they will have both American and translated Rome and other Foreign sources of news and commentary as it comes online. As always go to the last page for the most current info and work yourself back
I expect Father Z will have remarks pretty early also.(Father Z is already give some hints)
Get Religion hopefully will have a nice overview later in the day.
John Allen at National Catholic Reporter( warning the only trusted source and reporter there on these issues at that rag) no doubt will be quick out of the box with insight and background. I will hit all the other usual suspects in a few hours(give them time to read it) and list them in the updates below.
I would keep tabs on Damian Thompson at the UK Telegraph too across the pond.
See you in a few hours
