There was was when the regionals came out a collective groan by LSU fans who saw what Regional was paired with a LSU potential Super Regional. Oh NO IT'S RICE.
Despite the epic dynastic success of LSU baseball over the decades that little private school in Houston has been a royal pain pain in the Butt for LSU. In fact in regional and post regional play Rice is
6-0 over LSU. The Advocate has the story today with he depressing history.

My take for most compelling regional: without question, Rice-LSU. I still think it’s outrageous that the committee paired those two regionals, but nothing can be done about that now. It’s just a shame one of those teams won’t be in Omaha, because both of them belong there. That’s got a chance to be an amazing weekend in Baton Rouge. LSU’s got to be the favorite, but I can’t say enough about Rice’s resilience after coming back to win the Houston Regional. Big kudos to Wayne Graham, his staff and his players.
