An Important Conservative and American Has Passed On -Richard Nadler RIP

It happens live clock work every election cycle. A Republican with all sincerity makes promises of bold minority outreach. In my neck of the woods that minority is African Americans. However as election day gets closer the polls tighten and suddenly not only is the money vanishing at an alarming rate you have spending to every other day fundraising. So Republicans politicians make the sensible choice of spending time and money where they can get the most bang for the buck.

It is a problem.

Richard Nadler , who say the least led an interesting life politics wise, spent a good deal of his life combating this problem. He did this because he loved his country.

Richard Nadler died suddenly in his Kansas City home on Saturday.

He did many things and adovcated for many conservative causes. His work on expanding the conservative and Republican coalition can be found in his Americas Majority foundation.

I was very happy to see his voice added to the NRO Corner blog as I mentioned earlier this year. See National Review Meets Immigration Politics Reality.

There are a couple of tributes up for Richard on the NRO blog. See More on Rich Nadler , Rich Nadler, RIP, and another Rich Nadler, RIP by Rich Lowry.

Nadler got caught up in the immigration reform wars the last two years and like many of us that supported such efforts took some very painful arrows that were wounding.

Nadler advocated the very common sense viewpoint that yes Latinos were big on enforcement and tough sanctions but you had to compromise with them some on what to do witht he people here.

It should be noted that even his most ardent foes on this issues have tributes. See from the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, Heart of America Chapter, Kansas & Missouri blog this tribute Rich Nadler Dead At 60 .

IN that entry I was struck by this:
Those who know Rich know what a fearsome fighter he was for conservative causes.
If there was a smarter person in Kansas City, or a better informed one, or a more passionate one, I have not met him.To his credit, Rich was not afraid to get in the face even of his friends if he disagreed with you, as he did famously with most of us on the amnesty issue. About a year ago, Phyllis Schlafly called and asked me to resign from a board I sat on with Rich because of his outspokenness on this issue. As I told her, "If you knew Rich the way I did, you would not even ask this question
."

That of course showed part of the problem we have been facing as conservatives and Republicans. The fact we want to exile many of friends because we disagree with them 10 percent of the time.

But Nadler was not of that mindset. The Country , conservative, the people of Kansas City and Missouri have suffered a great loss.
