Teaching Young Boys To Swim!!

A few observations.

Do people notice that there seems to be on the average there is little problem with girls taking to swimming but boys will scream about it. I don't know why this is but maybe Amy gets at it. Heck from what I can recall as a little kid the girls were much more adventurous in the pool than than the boys. Especially the Diving Board!!

My mom was a fanatic with me and swimming lessons. I ahtedted it because swiming lessons seemed to be like at the hour of 8 am!!! A unwelcome distraction from me sleeping in after the school year. Not a hour I was used to getting immersed in the water. I also hated it because I had no interest in the "backstroke' but she was wise.

She knew I would be out in the ponds on the farm and out in the country swimming with my buds .The swimming lessons not only taught to me swim but recognize one would has to respect water. I think in the South most Mothers realize early on they better get their boys to learn to swim because at 13 or 14 they are apt to do something stupid in the water.
