Steeler Ike Taylor Mentions Mythical School of Louisiana In Super Bowl

PET PEEVE TIME

I am watching the Super bowl and they do the players introducing themselves on tv. They say their name and usually thei college. Ivan "Ike" Taylor plays for the Steelers and when his turn came up he said "Louisiana".

What University is this? Is he referencing the small Baptist college in Pineville Louisiana- Louisiana College?

It appears he graduated from the ULL - The University of Louisiana- Lafayette!!! Ah problem solved more ULL nonsense. There is no "Louisiana". In fact the University of Louisiana system says quite explicitly there is no "Flagship" of the University of Louisiana system. It is wrong to even imply this. However it is being done all the time. ESPN calls ULL Louisiana all the time.

I don't know who they are paying off but too many sports folks are falling for this. What if University of Louisiana Monroe played ULL. Do people go its Louisiana versus Louisiana? No. Louisiana Tech and ULM need to start taking the lead on quashing this nonsense

  1. You know James, it has never bothered me that they want to be called the University of Louisiana. Its not like having a better name is all of the sudden going to make them good at football. :)
