Polygenism and Catholic Doctrine

Tip of the Hat to Southern Appeal forthis interesting discussion by Shea atInteresting conversation on polygenism . Be sure to read the comments

I must say the whole Creation debates that seem to go on bore me. As I like to point out there is a lot more interesting stuff after Noah appears on the scene in Genesis that perhaps people should check out.

I believe and I think the Church believes that ADAM and EVE are real people. That there was a historic event where a Choice (you know the Fall) had to be made. That had consequences IE Original Sin

How this all worked I don't know. I do get a sense that Bible is alluding to things and other people even though the Holy Spirit did not intend or feel compelled to lay it all out

For instance when Cain killed Abel we read:

11 And now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand. 12 When you till the ground, it shall no longer yield to you its strength; you shall be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth." 13 Cain said to the LORD, "My punishment is greater than I can bear. 14 Behold, thou hast driven me this day away from the ground; and from thy face I shall be hidden; and I shall be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will slay me." 15 Then the LORD said to him, "Not so! If any one slays Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold." And the LORD put a mark on Cain, lest any who came upon him should kill him.

Who are THESE people that going to be killing Cain? Maybe more future descendants of Adam and Eve .Maybe they are people already present but who are they?

Anyway interesting debate and topic

Update- See Part II The discussion of Gen 1-3 continues...
