900 Christians Die In the Congo- Do We Care?

You know I am all for the religious blogsphere discussing Israel and Gaza and such. Lord knows I did. But I can't help but notice whether the blogs are Catholic or Protestant, Right or Left we seem to focus on that area of the world and have hand wringing discussions on what we shall do but practically ignore the Christian persecution that is occurring all over the world.

Why is that. It can be China, it can be India , or in this case the Congo.

A Louisiana expat priest has a short piece on this horror at Prayer need: Over 900 massacred in Congo since Christmas

I am ashamed I had no idea of this.

Both Catholic and Protestant used to pay more attention to Missions and the Faithful abroad.

Speaking as a Catholic we should be ashamed. It is perhaps time we stop just giving lip service to what we say in the Creed (You Know we believe in Holy Catholic Apostolic Church) and start acting like we believe it.

I suppose Christians are part of the culture and here in the media even Christian concerns get lost in the never ending here today gone tomorrow Cable News Cycle. Still When Benedict talked about praying for China a couple of years back he did Not mean just for that week.
