What do the Top Ten Poorest Cities Have In Common

Sigmund, Carl and Alfred has a post up Top 10 Poorest Cities.

As she points out Republicans do not exactly get elected in these cities very much. However I think the point here is not so much that Republicans can bring glorious days to these cities. I think it shows us what happens when there is one party domination.

We have seen that in history. The South Pre- Civil war and sadly for most of the post Civil War was pretty one party dominated. In Louisiana we did not elect a Republican since Reconstruction since till 1980. He was out in one term. Till Congressman Cao the Congressman had been a Dem for over a 100 hundred years. We see how New Orleans is doing.

I have often said the problems we see in the African American community is the total domination by the Democrat party. The issue is not if Democrat ideas are good or bad but the lack of any new ideas from another polticial party. True in places like New Orleans you have various factions and machines but these do not take the place of a robust opposition that is challenging you in the public arena on ideas and platforms.

From the not too far ago South to today's African American community, to Northern Cities we can see the results where one party dominates to the practical exclusion of all others.
