One of my favorite bloggers is The Anchoress. She often reminds both the left and right in the United States the words of Saint Paul--“All that I hate, I am become!” (read it lessons for us all)
I was thinking of these words as I saw how many on the left reacted to the shoe incident in Iraq today. Please note that what is not mentioned is that this "journalist" seemed a tad shocked he was not met by adoration in the room or that several Iraqi journalists got up and apologized to the President, or the fact that this guy journalistic stance is not exactly neutral
I am a pretty old school and that is Americans respect the President. That you stand by him when he is abroad. In fact it is crucial!!! It is the office. The fact that so many Bush haters are taking glee in this incident shows how short sighted they are. Trust me Obama will need all of us to stand by him in the future and having the Office disrespected does not help him
But the extremes on the left and right never get this. I opposed a lot of things that Clinton did but I also called out the right when they went over the line of just being the loyal opposition. There is line (AND I KNOW IT IS BLURRED) between loyal and vibrant opposition and going out of control. I have crossed it no doubt a few times.
I have been horrified to see how Bush was treated. Now for some reason people think this cycle will end with Obama. Well if it is going to end some of the "Hope and Change" folks are not helping that. I refuse to believe that most Democrats and those from the left are looking at this with glee.
I will not even get into the security concerns. Have someone come that close to the President and do what we saw today then I suggest that shows a potential problem for Obama as to security. It might not be so funny next time.
Anyway I am glad that Bush responded to it in his regular humor and that the other Iraqi Journalist showed a proper correct journalistic attitude.
Anyway I have a Christmas Party but I shall be updating this "Hall of Shame" throughout the night. Again to updated though out the night.
One Utah had a depressing post as well as the usual comments I see elsewhere on certain blog (no doubt these were some of the same people that were horrified at alleged comments coming from a crowd of 20,000 toward Obama at McCain and Palin Rallies). See Iraqi Journalist Speaks for Americans. Throws Shoe at Bush ( I get into it a tad in the comment sections)
Firedog Lake of course responded. Some of the people at Firedog Lake can make the Daily Kos look like contributors to the Bush Library Fund- See Muthathar al Zaidi: Today’s Shoe Hero [VIDEO] and oh the comments.
Just Ain't Right has thoughts at "This is a farewell kiss, you dog" where she wishes one shoe had made contact
this time around... has Not That I am a Proponent of Violence, but.. thinks this should become a nationwide thing!!! As I mentioned in the comment section (waiting to be moderated) I told her or him suspect President- Elect Obama would disapprove.
Mercy Poltics has a pretty well unhinged post at The Bush Shoe Dodge
Therearenosunglasses thankfully has no comments but this title says it all at Shoes thrown at Idiot in Chief on Iraq trip
More later Guests are coming
Update I
break the terror has Hilarious Iraqi journalist throws shoes at George W. Bush, but unfortunately aims poorly
The Spielster at Iraqi Journalist Throws Shoes at President Bush… declares this event "AWESOME" among other things. I wonder how AWESOME he thinks it would be if lets say someone from Lifenews threw parts of anaborted child at Obama to show disgust at Obama Culture of Death. I mean would that be AWESOME if we follow the same logic Right?
I don't see why I should respect anyone who has earned my contempt.
