Why Should I be Getting Upset By This? Union Muslim Workers Get Paid EID Holiday

Over at the Corner, Andy McCarthy states "Hope you're sitting down for this".

Go see Ah, yes, the traditional end of summer: The Eid

In part:
Tyson officials said that approximately 250 of the plant's 1,200 employees are Somalis who entered the United States as political refugees. Most, if not all, are believed to be Muslim — among them, Abdillahi Jama. "This new contract is good because it allows me to work on the second shift and still pray when I need to," Jama said in the union's press release. "It’s very important to us, and the Eid is one of our most sacred holidays. It shows how the union helps us."

It sort of makes sense to me and I am not offended. Perhaps we should be more concerned that lets say that Unions that have more Catholics are not asking or even view as important having a paid Holiday for Holy Day of Obligations. Like for instance the upcoming Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

What about the fact that perhaps Catholics and Christians should be asking for similar consideration for GOOD FRIDAY!!

I have a hard time faulting Moslems when they are doing something perhaps we should be doing. At one time everyone was off on GOOD FRIDAY and Churches were packed. Now we see it as just another day.
