Glen Guilbeau the always fun and often irritating LSU beat reporter for the Gannett Paper Empire had a article up todayHatch emerging as LSU QB

I think Glen is right. I have been sort of rooting for Hatch because I like his story. Plus he has some unfair obstacles to overcome
Such as SOME LSU fans not being as invested in him- Lee's Recruitment was a big deal so LSU fans are bonded to him and know more about him. Plus he was a QB of huge ole impressive Texas High School Football team and in our minds whatever they played in Nevada is pee wee leagues to that.
Of course the fact we know nothing about the state of Nevada High school football does not seem to enter our minds. Still Texas High School all is tops in many ways for a reason. We are certainly over there recruiting a lot.
Plus the fact that people are making judgments about Hatch's ability and have been writing him off based on no evidence for a long time has irked me
However Hatch's stock has been rising since the Spring Game among the LSU nation.
After reading about every possible article on HATCH and Jarret Lee article and tea leaves I have to think at the end they are about even. When one looks like they are pulling ahead the other comes back like a freight train. I think at this point HATCH has the slight lead and that seems to be what the rumors are.
So against APPY State I think Hatch will be number one go to guy.
However I think starting QB is a relative term this year. Both players will see a lot of action. Then there is Freshman Jordan Jefferson that Miles keeps praising nonstop.
However after the first three or four games THERE MUST BE ONE. No true two quarterback system will work. Not saying the other two studs will not get plays but you have got to have one guy to give his stamp to the team and lead it. If it will be Hatch or Lee after the Auburn game I do not know which one but it will be one of them.
That being said I wish to avoid a Quarterback controversy. LSU fans love Quarterback controversies and soap operas. Part of this is our insecurity that the Almighty will look down and Say my golly how did LSU reach such excellence and then proceed to smite us down
Glen Guilbeau had a LSU chat the other night online. I asked if the program is preparing Lee and Hatch for the mental aspects of Talk radio, newspapers, and Internet boards and blogs throwing each of them under the bus in the most cruel way as we all go into our respective Hatch, Jefferson, or Lee camps. Think how nasty fans of Auburn and Miss State were to their two leading QBs last year. That was not pleasant or fair.
He told me he didn't expect a controversy because LSU fans understand the situation. I THINK HE IS OUT OF HIS MIND and we are going to have a huge one. I hope not but the LSU fan base or to be more specific the minority NAHOOBS of Negative Thought faction that's voice is so loud I expect not to be rational.
Anyway I think both Hatch and Lee are of good quality and I hope the LSU fan base will be a tad patient with them this year. They very much could surprise us!!
