Georgia Catholics Worshiping Canine Statues (Catholic Bloggers of the SEC Edition)

I think perhaps we should have a Catholic Bloggers of the South Eastern Conference Edition at times. A few of mine Louisiana Catholic bloggers are LSU fans. From Burke to Kirk and Beyond... is a Vandy and Bama(gasp) fan. Campaign2008VictoryA is also a Georgia fan. Perhaps I should be on the outlook to make a full roster!!

Anyway Catholic Convert Option C has a funny and informative post at Preseason Football Rankings…and Worshipping Statues

I suppose LSU fans are in more trouble with our blasphemy

The College Sports Blog EveryDay is Saturday gave a First Hand Report of possible trouble in Baton Rouge Last year after a visit to the LSU / Florida Game.

The tiger is real. You know that there’s a live tiger on campus at LSU. And that they parade it around before games. And that you’re going to see it. But seeing it registers the lunacy of the whole event at a level that only the visual can really deliver: it’s a live godd##n tiger in its own bizarre cage/car, staring out at all the fresh meat it could possibly ever want from behind mesh and generally looking very, very unimpressed with the whole affair. The crowd loses all sense when it arrives, bringing LSU pregame out of the realm of mere “pep” and into a conflation of sport and primitive totem worship.

No Totem here. When we cannot see the Holy of Holies(when he is napping in his cage which Tigers seem to do a whole heck of a lot of after they tear the shrubs up) we have our own image to worship in his place.

Speaking of Blasphemy and Statues

I guess we know what happens with the Godless Heathen Tempts our Graven Image :)
