Louisiana Catholic Blog Update for July 7 2009

A little History here. This cross was planted not in Louisiana but was erected at Grand-Pre', Nova Scotia in memory of the Acadians who were victims of the Deportation of 1755. If you read the papers of John Carroll,( the only Catholic who signed the Declaration of Independence) his father in a letter to him recounts how in Maryland the Colonial Govt forbade them from giving these good people help. Many of course eneded up in Louisiana and found refuge and started a incredible culture. For more see Being a Cajun is a commitment By Fr. Mike Bergeron
