Governors Palin or Jindal Should Not Be on the Republican Ticket

UPDATE- I recieved a rather nasty email saying my post below was because I was a Huckabee Hack and just wanted him to be VP. It went on slamming Hickabee and his "snake handling" supporters. First I did support Huckabee. Second a word of advice. Don't slam other Republicans as we try to unite. It is silly. I supported Huckabee and would love for hom to be VP. However I am not pimpin for him on here for the job. People might note I am from Louisiana. I have never met Huckabee in my life. I have met Jindal.I have worked for him in two races. It is in my LOUISIANA self interest to get him in the WHite House one day. So pleaseeee. Oh and note this little fact. If you look in my political links I have a Palin for VP LINK I have never taken down and lo and behold there are no Huckabee links at all!!! So readers that are questioning my intentions please think before hitting that submit button!!

The Republican and Conservative media and blogs are all talking about how McCain needs to put McCain or Jindal on the ticket.

The Anchoress in this post is very indicative of the mood I see when linking the following two articles she says: Sarah Palin for GOP VEEP! Seriously. If McCain has any brains at all.(please see links she provides)

This is being fed by the media also. I really do not expect this to happen but if it did it would be folly.

Whenever I see this I keep using a Football analogy.

Pro Football fans are always always wanting the new exciting quarterback stud they just got out of College Draft to come in and solve the problem. Pro Coaches know this is folly. First it is not College ball. The Pro football Game is tougher and faster and more cut throat. They know that putting a rookie in is a disaster. That in fact rushing a talented football stud into the arena is not only a disaster for the team but good have long term consequences to the player. Football fans are a lot like the public and politics. They adore you one day but boy they will throw you under the bus so so so quick. We see this every day.

In other words just like the Oakland Raiders knew it would be folly to put Jamarcus Russell as their starting QB last year, I highly suspect that McCain knows , or at least I pray he does, that it is too early to pull the Red shirt off two of the GOP rising stars. Like in College and the Pros Coaches know that putting someone in too quick could kill them and thus the team down the road.

There are other practical concerns. I am not sure how we are going to attack Obama on his lack of experience when we are about to put a heartbeat away from the Presidency people that have not finished one term as Governor.

They also to be quite frank need to fail. Yes fail. Every politician has a defeat where he has to get off the floor. People are not noticing it but it should be noted that both Jindal and Palin are getting complaints from the so called "True Conservatives" or at least a faction of them . It is very similar to the silly complaints Huckabee got against him on his Fiscal record. It is starting from groups that are "Club for Growth Like" that don't seem to realize that one cannot just madly slash budgets all over the place. That is (if you believe in Federalism) the states have to have money to build roads, fund the parks, etc etc. Bobby is getting this silliness all over the place down here.

Dealing with these complex factions like the one above is important. They need to be tested by fire. I would suggest their first major tests should not occur as on the job training in the Executive Branch.

Finally we must look to the future. The fact that the GOP is having to look to two people that have not even finished one term as Governor as VP is concerning. Is our bench that shallow? God I hope not. However if it is I think to put two people into the fray that we are looking to be our leaders in the future and will much need is folly of the most extreme sort.

I love both of these two rising stars. That is one reason why I am trying to look out for them.

One last Football type thought. There is one crucial difference between my football and Political analogies. If Palin or Jindal falter or mistep in a huge way or the public starts asking the experience questions Coach McCain cannot put in a backup.

  1. Sarah Palin has just given birth to a 5th child. I don't think she is going to be campaigning for anyone but the new baby in 2008. Nonetheless, she is talented and fresh.

  2. She is indeed. I think she has a great future. She is a very good story.

It is funny but people always associated corruption with Louisiana. Even though we have made great strides and much is overblown.

Alaska of course has the same problems but it is so out of sight out of mind no one notices lol

I do find it intriguing that both Jindal and Plain have come in on aplatform of reform as to that.

  3. Bottom line, with Palin as VP, McCain WINS.

Without Palin, McCain likely does not win.

    Case closed.

What in heavens name is this based on.

Another bottom line that is very realistic. If McCain loses and she is on the ticket one of most rising stars might be dmaged so she cannot run and win 4 years from down
