Louisiana Catholic Update For May 13th!!!!

It is time for the Louisiana Catholic Blogger "Daily"update. (NOTE I AM SORRY EVERYTHING IS SO BUNCHED UP. SOMETIMES WHEN I DO A PICTURE IT HAPPENS AND I CAN'T FIX IT)
As to the picture above I got that here. What is that? It is St Martin de Tours in St Martinville Louisiana . We learn:
This is the mother church of the Acadians. The first church was built on this site in 1773. The present building was built in 1836. It is the fourth oldest Catholic church in Louisiana. The church still has box pews, enormous columns, and an ornate baptismal font that was reportedly given by King Louis XVI of France. Oddly enough, though the church was founded by French priests, it was an Irish priest that associated it with it's parton saint, St Martin, in 1790. There is a portrait of St Martin behind the altar. Inside of the church is a replica of Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto which was built of clay and moss in 1870.

Proceeding on!!!

SHE HAS SAINTS TODAY!!!She gives us the buzz on Saint Pancras, martyr (died 96) and Saint Achilleus and Saint Nereus, martyrs (died 96, possibly at the same time as Saint Pancras). She has the usual"This happened on this date in history stuff" that is fun. For instance the the British beat us Americans at the Siege of Charleston on yesterdays date. South Carolina folded much like their current football team does today. She has a lot more so check her out
