Will Aids Be Defeated In Africa Partly to Bush?

You can be forgiven if I suppose if this comes as a shock what is being reported here African AIDS Defeatable (Thanks to Bush) . It has largely been under reported. As a Catholic, I am a tad miffed that Catholic Progressives had not taken a break from their "Bush is "Attila the Hun" theme and promoted this. Sometimes you have just to get off the treadmill and look at the big picture. Many Conservatives did the same as to Clinton. Not every thing he did was horrible and I say that as a big opponent of his.

Still it would be nice among certain Catholics that are writing the Bush Obituary ( THE WORST PRESIDENT IN AMERICAN EVER) that they could promote this a tad. If the public sees this can work then perhaps they will be for it in the future!!! Again the big picture. Sort of like Bush''s efforts on Immigration reform that of course were controversial.

For those that want a quick roundup on Bush , Africa, Poverty , and aids go see the Anchoress posts that has a ton of links. Go see Geldof on Bush: “he’s curious and quick.” and Bush and Hillary are both dancing and Did you know Bush is still in Africa?.

It is ironic but the often Bush bashing UK Press are the ones that are taking note. Just like many of the Secular Stars whether it is Geldof or Bono.

Africans are singing quite literally it seems:

Her head tilted back, Juli Endee pulled the microphone close and belted out, "Thank you, George Bush."
"Thank you for democracy," she crooned over the electric guitar, shaking her hips wrapped in yellow cloth. "Thank you for the rule of law," she sang. "Thank you for debt relief."
Mr. Bush arrives in Liberia today on the last stop of the five-nation Africa tour that brought him to one of the few parts of the globe where people still have a favorable view of America. A Pew poll of 47 nations found that America's popularity is exceptionally high in Africa, where some hold the United States in higher regard than Americans do themselves.

Sorry Mrs Endee the tune you are singing that sounds very much the like the Catholic principle of Subsidiarity is quite out of tune with the story line we are engaged in over here in the United States. Thanks for the melody though.

The battle with Aids world wide is far from over. However there is hope.

Update- I am looking at the Democrat Compassion Forum last night.(more on this later perhaps) I see this

FRANK PAGE, SOUTHERN BAPTIST CONVENTION: Thank you, Senator Obama. Thank you for being here at Messiah College for the Compassion Forum. Southern Baptists have been very active for years in sub-Saharan Africa in the HIV/AIDS relief ministries. Sometimes orphan care, sometimes educational activities.
But we also are involved in a ministry called True Love Waits, which has been credited by the government of Uganda from lowering the AIDS infection rate there dramatically from 30 percent to 6 percent. But we also teach a part of that, that faith has a role in the issue of HIV/AIDS. Do you concur with that and would you elaborate on that, please
.

BROWN: Can I just clarify, True Love Waits is an abstinence program.

PAGE: Abstinence based and faith based, yes.

OBAMA: Well first of all, congratulations to those who have been involved in that work. I think it’s important work. And I think you may know my father came from this part of the world. I visited Kenya multiple times. I have been working with a group of grandmas who were helping AIDS orphans in Kenya.
Michelle and I, when we were traveling there, took an AIDS test before thousands of people to encourage the importance of them getting clear on what their status was and hopefully reducing infections. And, by the way, this is an area where — this doesn’t happen very often, so everybody should take note — where I compliment George Bush. I actually think that… (APPLAUSE) I actually think that the PEPFAR program is one of the success stories of this administration. We’ve seen a drastic increase in funding. And terrific work is being done between the CDC, the NIH, local AIDS organizations, NGOs
......

Kudos for Obama for pointing that out. See it is not that hard
