The Washington Post has a major piece on Catholic Music and all the controversy. Amy Wellborn has the link at Music in the WaPo as well a must read post that should be read with the article.
I agree the article is not bad though as Amy points out it has some weak points. However at least it is being discussed. I can't fault a secular paper when it has attempted to tackle a complex , misunderstood, emotional topic when many Catholic papers in their pure Pravda mode act like everything is all right. Many people will be happy to know that the piece relies a good bit on Jeffrey Tucker of NLM and Thomas Day, author of Why Catholics Can’t Sing as the expert voices.
