Standing on My Head has an excellent post called My Favorite Churches . The main gist of it is how Catholic would be well served to pick up from Anglicanism their fine tradition of music and boys choirs. Good read. It is sad that this is disappearing in England and perhaps Catholics should try to retain what is best of it. I read quite a few English Catholic blogs with a few being priests. It is amusing when they discuss how GAWD awful even the boys choirs are in the Vatican compared to what is in the UK.
A neighbor, friend and mentor , that is devout Episcopalian, went to London over Christmas. Her father(he was in the OSS , CIA, Flew Batista out of Cuba etc) was given some citation by the Queen for some service to the Crown and she went to the record place to find out what it was. Well it happens it is still a State Secret but they gave her the royal treatment after they reviewed it even though she could not be told.
Anyway they gave her a list of Anglican Churches that were having traditional Boy Choir's Christmas music at services and she was dismayed that even at the great Churches the traditional services were sparse. As she put it she went to a major Cathedral and they were playing "new age crap". However she found a lovely service with a outstanding boys choir down the street. It is a shame that Anglicanism ,after seeing in full glory what went right and what went wrong with American Catholicism and music(I have no idea what the UK Catholics were doing) are sort of repeating early mistakes we did perhaps.
Check out his other post Blackfriars.
