I thought this was a pretty interesting posts at Vox Nova called Madison vs. Tocqueville on Associations. It has been a while since I read Tocqueville but I would like to revisit him. I suspect it might be likely that he will be quoted by Pope Benedict on his trup next here to the USA. I know he has talked about him before.
Hopefully the comment section over at Vox Nova will get busy as to this post.
