Thanks the Prayers and Comments

Thank you so much for the Prayers I have received in the comment section and via email.

I think most of the family is in a tad of shock. I am glad that my grandfather did not "suffer" in a way. However on the whole I do wish we knew this was coming. I suspect he did too so we could all say our temporary goodbye.

I am heading to Mississippi this morning but have decided to take the "long way" and go through Lake Providence Louisiana(which has seen better days) to see the ole House and Farm where my Mother was raised and where my most early memories of my Grandparents come from. Needless to say my Grandfather was a "take life by the horns type of guy" and for a small boy playing around a cotton and soybean farm was pretty fun.

My grandfather had quite a life. In fact it is amazing that he did not die in some of these adventures. Besides raising a huge family he: was in the military, was a amateur golden gloves boxer, a deputy sheriff, owned a huge saw mill, was a big farmer that raised Cotton, Soybeans, Rice and other assorted things, was Louisiana Farmer of the year(Twice I believe), was head of major cotton gin, was head of and ran one of the best hunting clubs on the Mississippi River, worked in a prison., he was a crop duster( a high risk job to say the least) and a ton of other things that I can't recall right at this moment. Needless to say it was a full life. I hope someone had the thought to put this in the obit.. It is strange but I always though he had the personality for politics but never to my knowledge did he take interest in running for office on any level.

My grandparents are Seventh Day Adventist even though most of the family is Baptist. My grandfather after decades and decades of years of listening to my Grandmother converted over.

Seventh Day Adventist have some Jewish law type things mixed in at times as well as other quirks. For instance the devout ones do not eat pork or in fact meat at all. I am curious if this is coming into play now because we sure are rushing this funeral for some reason. Visitation is tonight and the funeral tomorrow despite a good bit of the family being spread out.

Needless to say I will be the only Catholic at this family gathering. I am taking my liturgy of the hours and my rosary and will pray for my Grandfather and the family in my own Catholic way too. I have to admit being the only Catholic at at times at assorted family events like this gets depressing and also gets me pondering worrisome things.

I am lucky that my Aunt and Uncle on my Fathers side are Catholics. Events like this remind me that I better write out what I want my funeral to be like and what comes after and make sure my Aunt and Uncle are sort of watch dogging it in case something unforseen happens . If not no telling what the thing will look like.
