Cruncy Con has a nice piece on Amy Sullivan's new book The Party Faithful: How and Why Democrats are Closing the God Gap," at Amy Sullivan's book. Republicans should take note. I have to admit even as a pretty loyal Republican and conservative there is still a tad of what people call a "Reagan Democrat" in me. More so the last couple of years.
It is not so much the politicians in DC that is getting me fed up at times but to be quite frankly the "base". We cannot continue to have these purity tests on every issue that direct mail folks want to make a buck at and that become the new conservative/Republican issue that the Republic will stand or fall over. I think on issues such as the "Filibuster" and the" Gang of 14" and "The "Dubai Terminal Lease Deal", and yes even immigration there are various legitimate Republican and conservative view points.
If the Dems had not gone so far left(especially on life issues) and perhaps gave me more choices ,I might be pulling their lever a tad more. Sadly though the Democrats of the past like John Breaux, and Chris John and others are quickly becoming extinct.
I might this Sunday if I have a chance to go by Barnes and Noble give the book a quick read and skim and give my thought son it later
