The Lion of American Catholicism would have been 88 yesterday. I have great memories of him. I almost had a chance to meet him. He was scheduled to talk at the Red Mass Banquet in Shreveport Louisiana. I was pumped. However his battle with sickness ended that. He took a rapid turn for the worse before the banquet. If memory serves might he died about a week later.
Whispers in the Loggia has a tribute.
