Louisiana Catholic Roundup For Dec 5th

A scroll commemorating the visit of Saint John Berchmans to Mary Wilson. Chapel in the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Grand Coteau, Louisiana, Tuesday, March 20, 2007. This blogger has some other great pics here of that room.
Yesterday we had a huge amount of Louisiana Bloggers posting. As usual it is feast or famine. Today is slight hunger as to posting around the state. Here we go

From The Recamier as usual has her daily post for what we should know. When I say Daily I mean yesterday. I think she works a weird shift so I am always getting her post from yesterday when I do the update. Anyway her always fun and fact filled post for today(which is yesterday) is located here. She starts out as usual with info on the Saint of the day. That was a biggie. He was Saint John Damascene, Priest and Doctor (died 749). She has a lot of info on Hannah Arendt who died on this date in 1975 that was pretty darn interesting.
Also she has a Louisiana Factoid I was not aware of!!! That is Opelousas, Louisiana is the original home of Jim Bowie, who settled there in 1812, and is just down the street from the Donut King. I had no idea!! Why didn't I learn that in Louisiana History? Other Jim Bowie Trivia that I do know. If you are ever on the River Road(Hwy 61) between Vickburg and Natchez Mississippi there is a precious town called Port Gibson. It is the town that Grant found to pretty to burn. Anyway they have a beautiful Catholic Church that because of its stained glass is just bathed in blue light. Jim Bowie paid for that Church for his Catholic niece.

Catholic Tube has two vids up. Go seeAtheists Mocking Christmas, Again and More On Ave Maria Singles

For The Greater Glory has a entry up about relaunching his blog. He also has a link to his last LSU Reveille Column about Les Miles staying our football coach. I shall probably give that its own posting in a bit. Perhaps he will run a post why the LSU Reveille did a post on their web site inflaming Saban in Baton Rouge rumors without doing a follow up last week :). If they did I missed it.

Thoughts & Ruminations from Fr. Ryan has a funny post up today. Spanish is now the official Language of Christianity :) See it under his December 5 entry

We end with The Brown Pelican Society and his flurry of daily links and posts. I am rushed to get something to the post office so I can't post every individual link. But as usual the Catholic and political news he gives each day is worth reading

  1. No, you probably didn't miss anything. Saban in baton rouge gets attention & web traffic; admitting they did a poor job as journalists does not, hence their actions.
