Louisiana Tech/LSU Game Day News and Observations

Yes this Die hard LSU and Tech Fan had to pick his which team he should be loyal too this weekend. Easy. La Tech. Never trust a man that roots against the school that gave him some of the best years of his life. When Parents are looking at the dating situation of their kids THIS SHOULD BE A MAJOR RED FLAG if some one goes traitor.
As I posted earlier today I am not predicting a win by Tech. LSU is number 2 for a reason. Though Tech has improved it will be a couple of years till we see the building blocks that Coach Dooley is implementing at Tech produce results for what experts call Louisiana's sleeping giant. BY the way I shall be hitting more on recruiting for both LSU and LA Tech soon. It is getting that time of year where it really heats up

As to Tech a few observations. IF it brings its "A" game it will not be a blow out today. Coach Dooley has one some amazing things this year. He has taken a defense ,with the same players as last year, that was ranked DEAD LAST in Div one football and put in back in the lower 60's of ranking as of Defense. It can and has proven to be better than that ranking in several games.

The real key for Tech will be its offense that is inconsistent at best. Zac Champion is not exactly stellar as QB. However he shows brilliance at times. He also has a arm and can use it. As was shown last week in his 70 yard pass to True Freshman Phillip Lavias. They also have some good backs on that team. I think also that the Crowd will not be as a major of a factor as many people believe. Tech has gone through the ringer playing in front of huge loud crowds in their OOC games. So it is sort of been there and done that. So I don't think there will be much intimidation factor. Though I always think the so called "intimidation" factor at Tiger Stadium is overrated. Not that the crowd noise cannot give trouble to the QB. However I do think Players of opposing team feed off of it because it is so exacting. See Tebow of FLorida for instance.

Players to watch for Louisiana Tech is true Freshman Phillip Lavias. He has speed and was highly recruited out of last years Louisiana Class. After suffering a case of the drops(not unusual for a Freshman) he has improved. I also think Special Teams players Dominque Faust is one to keep a eye on. HE is currently leading the country in blocked kicks. By the way his High School coach out of Georgia was a former LSU Coach under Nick Saban. Tech has other assets such as Daniel Porter for instance.

However how Tech deals with the overall speed of the LSU I have no clue. Also to Tech disadvantage is last weeks Bama/LSU game. This was not a laid back week for LSU. The LSU coaches it appears gave the player holy hell over the flag issue. LSU will have something to prove tonight on that front. That is an unfortunate dynamic for LA Tech.

The News Stories of the day that have both LSU and Tech Focus are:
From LSUSportsnet we have It's GameDay: Tigers, Bulldogs Square Off on Homecoming
From the Advocate Rabalais: Tigers must win with style
Also from the Advocate we have LSU players vow to cut down on penalties
Glen Guilbeau has LSU's primary focus is Tech
The Advocate has LSU-La. Tech Matchups
From the News Star World OPENING DRIVE: Louisiana Tech at LSU
The LSU paper has Tigers to compete against relatives, friends at Louisiana Tech
La. Tech coach feels he's facing All-Pro team is a article from the Sun Herald which is a Mississippi paper

Oh by the way the Idiotic LSU Blog posting of the week goes to Tigerbait and his post here on the game. For being was raised in Ruston he is pretty clueless. :)

Not a great deal is known about the Bulldogs of Louisiana Tech University. They are a fellow inhabitant of the state. We haven't played all that much.
Dude that is what the this internet thing is known for. It is incredible. Go to google news and put in "Louisiana Tech". It works wonders.
Don't take too dim a view of this hapless school. Louisiana Tech is younger than the Fighting Tigers Football squad. I can't expect much out of a school that didn't exist back when Dr. Charles Coates was overseeing the LSU squad against Tulane. So what is there to talk about? Well take heart dear reader, I was born and raised in Ruston, home of the Dawgs. This may provide some insightful commentary and analysis of our foe.
Trust me nothing insightful is here. Oh and is he is acting that Louisiana Tech is like the University Louisiana of Monroe(The old NLU) that had its great birth in the 1950's.
According to Wilki
Louisiana Tech University (founded as the Industrial Institute and College of Louisiana) was created by Act 68 of the Acts of the State of Louisiana of 1894, established "for the education of the white children of the State of Louisiana in the arts and sciences" (Act 68, Section 1). Classes began September 5, 1895, with 202 students and five faculty members. The Industrial Institute conferred its first degree, a Bachelor of Industry, on 5 June 1897 to Harry Howard.

It is true we did not start playing Football in 1893 like LSU did(we were birthed a year later) we need meet up with LSU in 1901. Not too bad. OH and score by the way. Well we are not talking about that.

As also a LSU fan( we shall be supporting them again inf full after tonight) I am horrified that is he tempting fate here with this:

.I am worried about injuries not for LSU, but for Tech. You see, folks in Ruston like things quiet and staid. The football games there are sparsely attended and even less vigorously supported by those in attendance. The sheer noise of Tiger Stadium on an average to sub par night this coming Saturday might cause bleeding from the ears and nasopharyngeal passages, stroke, shock, heart attack, water on the brain, aneurisms and hurt feelings for the Bull Dogs. Their fans will be even worse off because of this rude and nasty feature of Tiger Stadium.

Good Grief. He might want to rethink that. Most LSU fans are quite aware of what happened when we when played poor hapless ULL and the starting QB got injured. Let us hope the gods have overlooked this blog post and don't show us their sense of humor. With Ryan, "I am always in trouble" Perrilloux constant saga , LSU fans are one injury away from seeing Harvard Transfer Andrew Hatch as their star QB possibly down the line.

Tigerbait go light a candle now to make sure your Jinx post doesn't wrack retribution from the Karma wheel.

Oh and as to Tiger Stadium see above. I love Tiger Stadium and it is indeed the Mecca of the Football world. But the crowd will not be as a big of a factor as he would like to think.
