Thanking God For the Religious Leaders That Failed us

I like Rod Dreher and not only because he is a LSU grad. I like his thought process and how he writes in general. Rod is of course a pretty big conservative that writes on politics and religion. He is a conservative that differs from the stereotype. For instance he takes pretty much a harsh position on Bush and the Iraq War. I differ with him on that but I still read him. Well let me say I am starting to read more of him again.

I kinda of got turned off on Dreher for a while not because I disagreed with him on a couple of issues but but because his articles were often just becoming Angry rants. It is alright to be angry and that needs to be expressed at times. But it was getting to the point that I thought it was clouding his fairness and judgment.

A little background on him that makes you appreciate this piece more he wrote. Rod was raised in St Francisville Louisiana and was a Protestant. He later became a Catholic. The Priest Abuse scandal took a toll on him and was a factor in him converting to Eastern Orthodoxy. It created quite a stir in the Catholic blogsphere when he did that. I think that information gives some insight into how good this piece is he wrote Monk was a fraud, yet now I am blessed. I think he hits it on the nail and offers some good lesson to all of us.

Tip of the Hat to The Anchoress that alerted me to this piece.
