LSU Fans Please Calm the Heck Down

This is my final post on the Kentucky game. Time to put it behind us and move on to Auburn. Needless to say if we don't win this game there will likely be no SEC game for us.

Criticism is fine of the Coaches and players. However what I have seen on the Tiger Internet boards is amazing. It has little to do with honest criticism but generally people that love to rant on the net. I saw this post on a Tiger Board last night and I think it puts it very well:

1) this is college football, not Pro football and it is in everyone's best interest to remember that coaches get 20 hours per week total of contact time with the players. So holding college football teams to some ridiculous perfection standard is stupid. Especially if that ridiculous perfection standard is based on the perception of simply being physically better than every opponent. The better talented team does not always win at ANY level of football.

2) UK had 9 DAYS to prepare for LSU, so this "perfect gameplan" BS is a fallacy. Brooks, Phillips and Sanders had two extra days of simply watching the USCar game and correcting the mistakes Woodson made. Dont underestimate the extra days and the specific practice and film time the Thursday USCar game gave them

3) Things ALWAYS look much simpler from the outside looking in and they are ALWAYS much clearer in retrospect. We simply dont know what goes on in team meetings, practice, pregame, during the game etc and so any analysis anyone may be giving on a website is made on significantly less then half the information to know the entire story.

4) for anyone to believe that their opinion matters to anyone but themselves is the height of narcissism. And calling yourself the SFP character doesnt excuse Jacob from making a total arse out of himself. Referring to yourself in the third person just makes it worse.

5) I have coached HS in a well regarded program that achieved success at a very high level and I can honestly say that listening to parents and fans speculate about why things happened, what should have happened, and what will happen down the road would make me laugh at the ignorance/arrogance they displayed. I am certain if you had the ability to get Miles/Crowton/Pelini etc to drop the veil and be honest with their answers/analysis/opinions to answer your questions you would stunned at what they had to say and the proverbial light would go off x1000. But since you will never enjoy that peek behind the curtain you can continue to believe you have all the answers or that you are even asking the right questions with less than perfect information.
