Louisiana Catholic Blogger Roundup for Oct 15th

St. Charles Chapel was built in the early 1900s by local landowners in the Bermuda community. The land was donated by Mrs. Charles Cloutier and her sons, all of whom were named Charles. St. Charles was a mission church of St. Augustine Catholic Church at Isle Brevelle, served by the Order of Holy Ghost priests. The doors and windows of the chapel were made in New Orleans and shipped up the Red River by flatboat. The chapel was dedicated in 1910. It is owned by St. Augustine Catholic Church and has been given for use to the St. Augustine Historical Society. This is in North Louisiana. The Catholic History of North Louisiana is often very neglected. Many Souuth Louisiana folks that are Catholic do not realize the huge Catholic presence in this region that was a big part of Louisiana and US Catholic History.

  1. I want to clarify my post on Fascist because out of context it likely seems downright odd. A recent commenter left some scathing comments on my blog about the "roman fascist church". They comments speak for themselves but I responded to a few that had enough content to forge a reply to. This post is one of the responses.
