12 Thoughts(and links) On the Past Football Weekend

I actually got a lot of my predictions right for this past college football weekend. I could not post them(I know convenient you are thinking) because I ran out of time on Saturday morning. I started off bad by predicting a West Virginia win but things looked up when the dust cleared.

(1) LSU
Yeah the first half was sloppy ,but the second half was pretty good. That is why we play 4 quarters of ball not two. I will say this. Was not that the most horrible commentary you ever heard? A great blog I love called is called Awful Announcing. They have some vids and hit the highlights of how bad the ESPN folks were at the LSU/Tulane Game here at Pam Ward Does Not Know What A Punt Is and the The Pam Ward Chronicles: Week Five .
(2) Auburn V FLorida.
Ok , I picked this one. I was just flat out amazed that Vegas got the odds SO SO SO SO SO SO wrong on this. People made money on this game. Anyone that has been watching Florida the last few weeks knew there were major problems. Did any of these Vegas Gurus read about the pre game problems that Urban was talking about at the Ole Miss game. Maybe I should go to Vegas. I know about this internet thing. Also Auburn is not a BAD team. Oh and let me say Geaux Brandon Cox QB of Auburn. So many fans and columnists wanted to bury him under the bus a few weeks back Again showing fans as a rule should not be listened too and Coaches who we pay millions too should be. Nice write up on Auburn here.
Oh did you love how Tuberville came unglued on the field when his team got that horrible call. Great Stuff. Now some of these problems will be cleared up before they come to town and play LSU. Urban is going to demand playmakers step up. We shall see who those are this weekend.
(3) Texas V Kansas St-
I picked this upset too. Again I am not sure if people are not just paying attention out there. I thought the fact that Kansas St "upsetting" Texas was a pretty good bet. Texas is one of the most overated teams in the top 25 and it showed. For a preview of the upcoming OU/ Texas Game go here.
(4) Wisconsin V Michigan State-
While many were picking Michigan State I stayed with Wisconsin. Wisconsin is the team that is making heart pill producers rich. They seem to love this narrow escape stuff week after week after week. I thought they would put on a good performance this week against a much better opponent. By the way this game had a vicious hit in it. If I find it on you tube I will update this link. Next week they play Illinois. That might be tough.
(5) LETS HEAR IT FOR HAWAII-
Yep Hawaii is taking care of business. I am getting pretty tired of them being dissed. I usually find the people doing it have no clue about the team ,or the conference they are in ,or actually watch the games. ONE ESPN commentator during Thursday night's game between Boise and Southern Miss just trashed talked Hawaii. I was pretty livid. Turns out the Hawaii players used that as motivation as you can see here.
(6) Bama V Florida State
I was a good ole SEC boy and rooted for Bama. However I picked Florida State to win. DO NOT LET THE SCORE FOOL YOU(Florida State 24 Bama 14). It was not a good display for the Tide. Problem is it didn't have to be that way. LSU fans I think saw something familar on the field last night under Coach Saban. That is a game plan that he often used at LSU. That is conservative...run, run, pass punt! Looks up, now down 14 pts...it's time to pass pass pass!! too late, you lose!!. If you keep doing that it will catch up too you. His play calling was really a mystery to me in this game. Here is article I read yesterday on the Tide on the team trying to find its identity.
(7) Louisiana Tech V Fresno-
My other true love is Louisiana Tech Football. I hate we lost but we are rebuilding. Till next week. We are not linking any news here. I wish to move on and look forward.
(8) USC V Washington-
I was predicting USC to win here and knew it would be close. USC is getting some grief ,but I knew this would be a tough one. They will lose one but I knew this was not it.
(9) POOR MISSISSIPPI STATE-
I really want them to do good(especially since we have already played them). They seem to have some hope for the season when we learn that a second Mississippi State QB has been injured in a significant way. STARKVEGAS IS CURSED.
(1o) Notre Dame
Ok I am ready for them to win one. This is getting sad to watch. Is the Notre Dame Coach about to lose the team? Our Catholic Apologist blogger Fighting Irish Thomas has his take on the game here.
(11) Oklahoma v Colo
WOW did I enjoy this. I did not go out on a limb and say Oklahomo would lose but I did put this down as upset that could happen. Oklahoma has been talking smack about LSU lately on their boards. HAHAHAHAHAH.
(12) Kentucky-
They are now leaders of the SEC EAST. Hell has indeed frozen over.
