A Church Father Post- What Do Bees and Breast Milk Have to Do With Catholicism?

I am a Church Fathers fanatic. So having my computer off line for week made me crazy in more ways than one. One site I missed visiting is the The Way of the Fathers blog. He has some great post this weekend.

Check out his Bee There Then. It gives a entry to the importance of honey in the early liturgy. I also wanted to point out a GREAT link he has in that post here called Nursing Mothers in the Preaching Fathers . That particular post has a EXCELLENT LINK that if you teach Catholic education you need to go to and print. That is “God’s Milk: An Orthodox Confession of the Eucharist.” There is a wealth of information in that Orthodox link and is full of apologetic material for how the early Church viewed the Eucharist and other early doctrines.

Way of the Fathers has a a great link to resources on the Saint we honored yesterday and one of our most important Popes ever. Go to They’re Grrrrrrreat! (note have to scroll down to the bottom of the page). Also check out this interesting post Deaconesslessness?

  1. My wife and I wrote an essay on breastmilk and Catholicism, focusing on the Bible and the works of the Fathers. It's called "Milk and Mystery" and it appears in Catholic for a Reason, volume IV: Scripture and the Mystery of Marriage and Family Life (Emmaus Road Press).

Thanks for all the kind notice. God bless.
