Congrats to Nanny Knows Best

Nanny Knows Best is a UK blog I visit often. Nanny knows best has just done its 100oth post. I wish this blogger would go on a US speaking tour. This blog is sort of the Canary in the Coal mine that I think we Americans should be listening too. It highlights the often overbearing aspects of the state that perhaps we should try to avoid. It does all this in a very funny way.

I take a more than passing interest in UK politics. In fact at night and at work I am often listening to this London 24 hour Talk Radio station. THis is a pretty fun station to listen too. IT is not like American Talk radio but mixes politics, issues of the day and much of other stuff

There are alot of good thing happening in the UK. However there are certain trends that disturb me. Part of that is the whole aspect of UK National ID. At a time that I think the world needs a strong United Kingdom , I am not sure all these devolution of powers to local Parliaments and what that might mean is a great thing. That might sound odd coming from a Republican and big supporter of Federalism but I do think a strong UK is needed especially in the 21st Century. For instance certain proposals to cut the UK Navy by 40 percent is pretty frightening to me.

Anyway there are a lot of good sources for UK. Here are two I visit several times a week.

EU Referendum-To discuss issues related to the UK's position in Europe and the world

Britian and America-
I think this is a important site to look at. Especially, now that Tony Blair is out of office we shall be returning to a more Conservative/Tory and Republican alliance and Labor and Democrat party alliance.

Biased BBC-
I encourage Americans especially to monitor how foreign media talks about the United States and especially politics. I sometime think there is a slight bias. Trust me that London Radio Talk station I linked gets a lot of my emails :).
