It is that time of day when I take a look at what the Louisiana Catholic bloggers(that I am aware) are talking about.
First there is the need for prayers for three Louisiana Catholic bloggers.
Astonished, Yet at Home! has a urgent need for prayers right now. First it appears that his father's condition is not that great and further he has a friend that is urgent need too of prayers. It seems Tobis has had a lot of trials like this lately so be sure to keep in mind today.
Full Circle has needs for prayers for his nephew that was involved in a accident where as a pedestrain he was hit by a truck. Also it appears that if you are in the Baton Rouge area he is looking for another Catholic to be part of their fantasy football league.
Cajun Cottage Under the Oaks also has a prayer request for freinds of hers as well as for the souls of those poor teenagers. Cajun Cottage hits on some other topics today. She did a homeschooling conference with a Cajun twist this weekend in Abbeville Louisiana. That is a beautiful town. She has a post here with some pics and thoughts about the conference(there is a pic of that beautiful Catholic Church too). More pics here about how Yes even Homeschooler kids socialize. A post here with more pics and a special thank you for a local business that helped out.
One day I hope she addresss the issue of Home schooling and sports. When Katrina hit many Louisiana folks went to Florida. I think many were shocked at how wonderful High School athletics is treated there. Teere is even a cable channel dedicated to it. Anyway Florida Quarterback wonderkid Tebow is a product of homeschooling. He was highly recruited. So I am guessing he had access to high school football programs to say the least. How did that work? Should we be doing that here? Just curious.
Catholic Tube has another great vid up. It deals with Intercessory pray.
Speaking of the Catholic Faith and new media, if you are a nightowl be sure to check in at The Catholic Underground tonight after 11 pm or so. They should have their new podcast up(in which one can listen to on your computer) tonight. Two of my Louisiana priest bloggers and the guy that has Dei Gratia do it. It is really great. Last week they led me to a resource I shall highlight later.
In fact lets highlight those folks now that are involved in that enterprise that is getting quite an audience. They are
Thoughts & Ruminations from Fr. Ryan on his August 13th entry has pictures of the Church he is now living at. That is the historic Church of the Immaculate Conception (b. 1853) in Natchitoches Louisiana. Natchitoches is the oldest settlement in the Louisiana Purchase. Even though there are some folks in a particular town in Northeast Louisiana that dispute that. If you have seen the movie Steel Magnolias this is that town. Louisiana has a strong connection to the Immaculate Conception as well as all Louisiana. It really shows our Spanish heritage too.
The other priest blogger that is involved in that podcast is Father Decker of Thy Nose to the Marble. He has a entry on his blog today which is Review: The Bourne Ultimatum.
Lastly the brains it appears behind the Catholic Underground podcast is the blogger at Dei Gratia. He is a lay person but ahs quite a interest in theology and sounds like he has some educational background in the subject. He has a post on Canon law today which involves baptism of children and what happens if the Catholic parents belong to different rites of the Catholic Church.
Moving on to another person in the Diocese of Layaette we come to From The Recamier. She highlights all the interesting history that occured today that we should know. She does a great job on highlighting the Saints of the day too.
Fr. Victor Brown’s Catholic Daily Message has a reflection on today's gospel.
For the Greater Glory blog has a series of good post. First he has a post that talks about another link a lOuisiana blogger has as to Fulton Sheen and the importance of a Holy Hour.
Aragorn also took a interest in the Iowa straw poll like I did. He has a post where he thinks HUckabee supporters need to be careful in their victory rethoric. I agree with that. I think what you are seeing is tension among supporters here. I agree I would have not phrased it the way that Huckabee supported did. I did post a comment there thought where I tried to clear up what I think is a misunderstanding as to this. However misunderstanding cause lost votes so his advice should be heeded.
If you have been reading this blog the last few days , you know we have been taking a Catholic blogger to task about some post he did. Aragorn has the lastest here.
Last but not least is the daily font of Catholic and political news from The Brown Pelican Society. Be sure to check out all those posts.
